Webinar Recap: Technology for Innovation and Impact in Home & Mobile Health in Kenya

In our latest webinar, we were joined by Naom Monari, Founder & CEO of BENA CARE KE, for an insightful discussion on how home and mobile health solutions are transforming healthcare access in Kenya. The session was expertly moderated by Wambui Nyabero, Founder & CEO of MEDevice Africa.

Key highlights from the conversation:

  1. Redefining Healthcare Access: Naom shared how Bena Care is leveraging simple yet effective medical technologies to deliver critical care directly to patients at their homes, especially in underserved communities.
  1. The Role of Innovation: We explored how innovations in telehealth, portable diagnostics, and home-based medical devices are reducing hospital congestion and cutting healthcare costs.
  1. Holistic patient care: We recognized the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects of a person’s well-being, treating the whole individual rather than just the illness.

From training caregivers to navigating infrastructure limitations, the conversation highlighted the practical challenges of scaling home health solutions. This brought up the need for more adaptable support systems that align with evolving care delivery methods. Despite these challenges, the opportunity for meaningful public health impact is immense.

Opportunities and Next Steps

There’s a significant opportunity for innovators to co-create diagnostic solutions tailored for telehealth, moving beyond basic video consultations, which are often limited by device quality and internet access.

By integrating more reliable diagnostic tools into remote care platforms, we can enhance accuracy, reduce the risk of misdiagnosis, and improve patient outcomes. As Kenya embraces digital health, community-based care models are no longer optional—they’re essential. With the right technology and partnerships, we have a real chance to revolutionize healthcare delivery and create lasting public health impact.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us live, and to our partners at East Africa Biodesign for making it possible. This is just the beginning. The future of healthcare in Africa is home-grown and tech-enabled.
