MEDevice Africa was founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic in response to the urgent shortage of critical medical equipment across African healthcare systems. Our first innovation, Afrivent, was a functional ventilator designed to support COVID-19 patients.

While Afrivent did not reach commercialization, the experience revealed a deeper challenge within African healthcare systems. The challenge was not only the shortage of medical devices. It was the absence of systems that allow medical technologies to move successfully from innovation to adoption and long-term use.
We saw critical gaps in equipment maintenance systems, manufacturing support, market access, technical infrastructure, and ecosystem coordination.
We improve structures required to create real healthcare impact—from medical device engineering and market entry strategy to equipment management systems, manufacturing support, and ecosystem collaboration.
Through partnerships with hospitals, universities, regulators, manufacturers, innovators, and other healthcare stakeholders, we are helping build a stronger and more sustainable MedTech ecosystem across Africa.
Today, MEDevice Africa applies these lessons to build solutions that are not only innovative, but deployable, scalable, and sustainable within real healthcare environments.
